Rasor Rants | The Box Journey Pt1

The beginning of the “Inside the Box” vision.

I fell in love with the “Inside the Box” composites when I saw some very talented fellow photographers share their images. No, I did not come up with this ALL on my own. womp womp. I immediately became obsessed with this idea. I can think of a TON of themes for this thing from normal holidays to small business uses. It quickly became all I could think about. It was also election season and hey…we all cope differently, right?

If I plan to try this thing, I’ve got to make a box! I drafted up a blueprint on a sticky note at work and started mentally preparing.

That weekend, we ran through Home Depot and grabbed all of the supplies! The only tool I really owned was a super weak battery-op drill. Home Depot had to do some real heavy lifting with this project. They kindly cut all of the wood and sent me on my way!

PLOT TWIST: Having recently bought a new car, I misjudged the width of the new trunk. Never thought I’d actually miss my minivan. As I stand there with my 4ft x 4ft piece of wood trying every possible angle, I realize…this thing is NOT going into his car. I take a walk of shame back into Home Depot to return the wood. I’ll need to come up with a new plan. No Box today. :(

DOUBLE PLOT TWIST: They offer to cut it in half so it fits in the car! HOORAY! We are back on!

We started to work right away and a few weeks later, we had a box!
